Józsefváros
(8th)
Józsefváros is an expanded painting series that deals with the
complexities of the economic and social structures in a modern world with
overlapping and flaws that are ever present.
Using constraint relief and repeat motif as figures the work gives shape and form to loopholes in today’s sociopolitical structuring. With housing and local spaces refurbished and updated, eviction rates grow and tennants become displaced, this series attempts to depict the shapes of developments and the constraints they have on community and family. This was particularly present in Budapest’s 8th district in which many familys where being forced out of their homes with poor alternatives offered. Without substantial education these familys were not able to know their rights or dispute this action in any way.
